SKELETON COAST SAFARI
Accommodations along the Skeleton Coast are provided in three tented desert camps, The first of these is Kuidas Camp set in the lower reaches of the Huab River in Damaraland, the second, Purros Camp, is built under Camelthorn trees and Makalani palms in the Hoarusib Valley in Kaokoland, and the third, Kunene Camp is on the northwestern Namibian border overlooking the perennial Kunene River.
The Program
- A unique and dynamic 4 day / 3 night fly and drive safari, using Cessna 210 aircraft and custom built Land Rovers, departing from and returning to Windhoek (other pick up and drop off options are available)
Explore the harsh, but beautiful Atlantic coast of northern Namibia, taking in the Skeleton Coast Park and the Namib-Naukluft Park and the western parts of Damaraland and Kaokoland.
- Accommodations are in exclusive, privately owned and fully equipped comfortable tented camps, a different camp for each night of the safari, situated in a spot carefully chosen for its exceptional beauty
- En suite bathroom with chemical toilet. Bucket shower
- Freshly prepared meals served in camp or picnic style during activities
- Your hosts, the Schoeman Family, have been operating safaris in this remote, unique and exciting area of the world for over 25 years
- The primary objective is to understand the ecology and geology of the desolate and beautiful areas of the Skeleton Coast
- Safaris operate year round. Scheduled departures are offered every Tuesday for Safari A and Safari B. Daily departures are available for a minimum of 4 passengers on all safaris. Maximum of 8 guests on each departure; however, special group departures can be arranged
- Longer safaris are available to include Sossusvlei, Etosha National Park, the Namibrand Nature Reserve, Luderitz and Angola's Iona National Park.
Activities
All exploring is done by air, by Land Rover, on foot and by boat as you discover the rugged coast including shipwrecks and seal colonies, and the Namib Desert, famed for its roaring dunes, unusual geology and ecology as well as desert adapted flora and fauna. Visit the Himba people, view ancient Bushman rock art and much more!
